Dr. Madelyn Moore is Associate Professor of Clarinet at New Mexico State University where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate clarinet students, as well as the NMSU Clarinet Choir. She also teaches all woodwind methods courses in the music education curriculum. Dr. Moore has given masterclasses and lectures at universities throughout the United States, as well as in Belgium, Spain, and China. She has presented clinics at the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest, and the New Mexico Music Educators Association. The NMSU Clarinet Choir has been invited to perform at International Clarinet Association ClarinetFests four times.
Prior to her appointment at NMSU Dr. Moore taught all woodwinds at Kilgore College in Kilgore, TX and Tarrant County College in Hurst, TX. She also maintained a full studio of as many as 90 middle and high school students for 9 years in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Many of her former students went on to study in prestigious music programs such as Indiana University, The University of North Texas, and The University of Texas at Austin.
Her teaching style involves a strong focus on fundamentals, while learning the practical skills of being a working musician today. Whether students are simply looking to enjoy playing, want to expand their own pedagogical knowledge, or have aspirations of orchestral playing, Dr. Moore keeps their goals at the heart of her teaching.
