Research

Madelyn Moore has focused a significant amount of research on the 19th-Century clarinet virtuoso, Heinrich Baermann. Although he is most widely known for having inspired composers Weber, Mendelssohn and Meyerbeer, Dr. Moore has particular interest in Baermann's own compositions. To that end, she traveled to libraries in Berlin, Munich and Rome to retrieve Baermann's unpublished or out of pring manuscripts. Carl Fischer Music has published her performing editions of three of these works in one volume titled Lesser Known Works for Clarinet, which can be purchased here. Dr. Moore has performed and lectured on these works across the United States, as well as in Spain, Belgium and China. An article about her research was published in The Clarinet. Performing editions of more of Baermann's works are currently in progress.
